Carl Edward Nittinger, age 71, of Salem, NJ (formerly of Haddonfield) Passed away,January 17, 2018 at Penn Hospice in Philadelphia, PA.  He is the son of the late Leon Earl and the late Dorothy Elizabeth (Bowman) Nittinger.  Loving brother to Virginia Merkel of Media PA and Louise Stotz of Palm Coast FL.

Carl was a long time member of Athenaeum of Phila. , Orpheus Club of Phila. and Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route(W3R). He worked for the State of NJ Historic Preservation Office and was an organist for several churches starting at Grace Church in Haddonfield at age 9. His many interest included furniture restoration, music, horses, sailing and walking. His interest in historic preservation carried through his life with the purchase of the historic house of the Goodwin Sisters, Elizabeth and Abigail in Salem,NJ. The home is included in the NPS’s network to freedom. The home was featured on many house tours in Salem.

Carl graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School in 1964, received his Master of Science in Historic Preservation 1991 from the University of Pennsylvania. He also graduated from thec ollege of St. Nicolas, The Royal School of Church Music, Addington Palace, Croydon England in 1971, Choir Training and Organ Accompaniment. Carl also received a BA in Church Music from the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University in 1968.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass 10 AM Monday Jan. 22 at 10 am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception 642 Market St.Camden, NJ 08102. Int. Harleigh Cemetery Camden,NJ. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
